'Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.
All of us under its spell
We know that it's probably magic.'
- Kermit the Frog
Today we certainly found that rainbow connection and it was magical. We went on such a wonderful walk this afternoon and had the added benefit of having our dear friend, Britta, with us. Some dark clouds were looming to the north but we had decided that a little rain wouldn't hurt us. And it didn't! We probably made it half way before it started, but once it started...wow! It poured. We all got pretty much soaked despte the help of some rain gear. Of course Britta had no rain coat or poncho but I don't think it would have made too much of a difference. We all just surrendered to it. Surrendering to getting soaked was actually so invigorating. It made puddle jumping after just that much easier. It was one of the highlght of DAY SIX of my homestay isolation. The other highlight was having dinner on the other side of the living room while Evan and Claudia ate at the dining room table. We have a combined dining room/living room. So, the fact that I was sitting in my favorite chair, eating so close to them - indeed, eating with them - made me feel that things were almost normal again. And of course, the delicious seitan-based spaghetti bolognese that Cláudia made also brightened that moment.
Cláudia has been amazing throughout this whole cancer ordeal. So strong and so giving. I am beyond fortunate to have her as my life partner. I always know in my heart how lucky I am, even when my anxiety or my anger or my darker sides sometimes seem to act as a cloud, covering that knowledge from myself at times. But the heart always knows.
